Frequently asked questions
Everything business owners ask before hiring a virtual assistant or outsourcing team, answered straight.
What are virtual assistant services for small and growing businesses?
Virtual assistant services cover the day-to-day admin and support work owners don't have time for: managing email and calendars, customer support, data entry, billing and appointment scheduling. A dedicated virtual assistant works remotely as part of your team, at a fraction of the cost of a full-time, in-house hire.
What does Skylink Co do?
Skylink Co is an outsourcing partner for US and Canadian businesses. We provide dedicated virtual assistants plus specialists in appointment booking, calling, lead generation, social media, IT support, web and app development, SEO, AEO, paid media and AI automation, all managed under one account manager.
Who is Skylink Co best for?
Businesses of every size that are growing faster than their admin can keep up, from solo practices to multi-location companies. We specialize in wellness studios, gyms, physical therapy and medical clinics, sports academies and professional services firms.
Do you work with businesses outside wellness and sports?
Yes. Wellness, sports and healthcare are our specialties, but we also support real estate, e-commerce, consulting, hospitality, local services and startups. If the work is recurring and can be done remotely, we can staff it.
What's the difference between hiring a freelance VA and using an agency?
A freelance VA is one person covering one set of tasks, and there's no cover if they're sick or quit. An agency like Skylink Co gives you a managed VA with backup coverage, an account manager, reporting, and the option to add other specialists as you grow, all under one contract.
Where is your team located?
Our specialists work remotely across 6 time zones, so we can cover US and Canadian business hours, evenings and weekends. Your VA works on your schedule, not theirs.
How much does a virtual assistant cost?
Skylink Co's Part Time plan is $899/month for about 80 hours (roughly 20 hours a week), and Full Time is $1,599/month for about 160 hours (roughly 40 hours a week). That works out to around $10 to $11 per hour, with a dedicated account manager included. Custom plans are available for multiple VAs or specialist teams.
Is a virtual assistant cheaper than hiring an employee?
Usually by a wide margin. A full-time in-house admin in the US typically costs around $4,500 to $5,000 a month once salary, payroll taxes and benefits are included. A full-time Skylink Co VA is $1,599 a month with no benefits, equipment or recruiting costs.
Are there setup fees or long-term contracts?
No. There are no setup fees and no long-term contracts. You can cancel any plan with 14 days' notice.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. All plans can be cancelled with 14 days' notice. We keep clients by performing, not by locking them in.
Can I start part time and upgrade later?
Yes. Many clients start on Part Time and move to Full Time once they see how much they can hand off. You can also add project hours or extra services without renegotiating a contract.
What's included in the monthly price?
Your dedicated VA, a dedicated account manager, onboarding, backup coverage and a monthly performance report. Full Time plans also include priority coverage, weekly check-in calls and access to specialist services like social media, outreach and calling agents.
Is there a free consultation?
Yes. Every plan starts with a free 30-minute discovery call where we map out which tasks to hand off and which plan fits your workload.
How quickly can I get started with a virtual assistant?
Most clients are matched and onboarded within about 7 days of the first call. The process is a discovery call, matching you with a specialist who has relevant experience, then onboarding with your tools and routines.
How do you match me with the right VA?
We look at your industry, the tasks you want to hand off, your tools and your working hours, then assign a VA with relevant experience. For example, a clinic gets someone who already knows patient scheduling and intake, not a generalist starting from zero.
What if my VA isn't a good fit?
We'll replace them. If your VA isn't working out for any reason, we reassign and re-onboard a new specialist at no extra charge.
What do I need to prepare before onboarding?
Just a list of the tasks you want to hand off and access to the tools involved, like your inbox, calendar, booking system or CRM. Your account manager helps you write simple instructions for recurring tasks during onboarding.
What tasks can a VA handle from day one?
Within the first week most VAs are handling inbox management, calendar coordination and customer follow-ups. More involved work like CRM management, reporting and billing is usually running smoothly by week two.
What tasks can a virtual assistant do?
Email and inbox management, calendar and appointment booking, answering calls and customer questions, invoicing and payment follow-ups, CRM updates and lead follow-up, data entry, social media posting, research, document prep and vendor communication. If you do it every week and it can be done online, a VA can usually learn it.
Will my VA work only on my business?
Yes. Your VA is dedicated to your account, not shared across dozens of clients, so they learn your preferences, tools and tone over time.
What hours will my VA work?
Your VA works the hours you need in your own time zone. With coverage across 6 time zones, we can also support evenings, weekends and 24/7 schedules.
What happens when my VA is sick or on vacation?
A trained backup steps in so there are no gaps. Your account manager handles the handover, so you don't have to.
How do I communicate with my VA?
However your team already works: email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, phone or your project management tool. You'll also have a direct line to your account manager.
What tools do your VAs use?
Whatever you already use, including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Notion, HubSpot, GoHighLevel, QuickBooks, Jane App, Mindbody and Acuity. You don't need to change your setup.
How will I know what my VA is doing?
You get regular reports on hours, completed tasks and results, plus check-ins with your account manager. Full Time plans include weekly check-in calls.
Can a VA answer my business phone?
Yes. Our calling agents handle inbound calls, return missed calls, book appointments and make outbound follow-up calls, using scripts built around your business.
Can a virtual assistant handle industry-specific work, like medical or fitness scheduling?
Yes. We match businesses with VAs who have relevant experience, including gyms, physical therapy clinics, doctors' offices and sports academies, so booking, intake forms and client follow-up are handled correctly from day one.
Can I scale support up or down as my business changes?
Yes. You can add hours or services like IT support, web development or marketing during busy periods and scale back when things slow down, without renegotiating a long-term contract.
Do you offer more than virtual assistants?
Yes. Beyond VAs we offer client account management, appointment booking and care, calling agents, lead generation and outreach, social media management, IT services, web and app development, SEO, AEO, paid media and AI automation.
What is AEO and why does my business need it?
AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) is how you get recommended by AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. More customers now ask AI who to hire, so we structure your website, schema and FAQs so those tools can understand your business and cite it by name.
Can you build my website and then manage it?
Yes. Our web development team builds the site, and your VA or marketing specialist can keep it updated, add content and manage SEO afterwards, so it doesn't go stale after launch.
Can you help me get more leads, not just handle admin?
Yes. Our lead generation, outreach, calling and paid media teams focus on filling your pipeline, while your VA makes sure every new lead is followed up quickly.
Is my business data safe with a virtual assistant?
We only use the access your VA needs for their tasks, and you stay in control of every login. We recommend giving access through your own accounts and a password manager so you can adjust or remove it at any time.
Do I keep control of my accounts?
Always. Your accounts, data and passwords stay yours. Your VA works inside your tools with the permissions you choose, and access can be removed instantly if you ever end the engagement.
Who do I contact if something goes wrong?
Your dedicated account manager. Every engagement has one person who oversees quality and fixes issues, so you're never managing the VA on your own.
